Terms of Service

Version 7

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply when you use Zydra. By using Zydra, you agree to the latest Terms. If you break them, we may close your account.

"We", "our" and "us" mean Zydra, which builds and runs the Service. "Service" means the zydra.sh website, the desktops you reach with ssh zydra.sh, the phone page and the timeline player. "You" means the person who owns an account. An account belongs to the SSH keys you connect with, and to the GitHub account you link, if you link one.

What Zydra is

Zydra is a Linux desktop in your own virtual machine, opened from your terminal with ssh zydra.sh. Developers use it to write and run software with AI coding agents built in, which keep working while the laptop is closed. It is not a VPN, a proxy or a place to mine cryptocurrency.

Zydra is a "Managed remote developer desktop and software engineering environment". Each desktop is a virtual machine on our servers, and we run and update it for you.

Your account

  • You keep your SSH private keys, your linked GitHub account and your paired phones safe. Whoever holds one of your keys controls your desktop.
  • We are not liable for loss or damage if you don't. Put a passphrase on every SSH key you use with Zydra.
  • You are responsible for everything your account does, including what your agents and scripts do.
  • You must be a human. Bots may not create accounts. Agents you run inside your own desktop are fine.

Use restrictions

You may not:

  • Mine cryptocurrency, or run anything else that turns the compute into money, in any amount and for any length of time.
  • Use Zydra as a VPN, a proxy, a network tunnel, a Tor relay or exit node, a host for public servers, or anything else that carries other people's traffic.
  • Scan networks or ports, send spam or bulk email, or attack, flood or break into any system, ours included.
  • Resell, rent out or share for money the bandwidth, compute or access you get.
  • Get around Zydra's security, including the isolation around a desktop and its resource limits, or overload Zydra or the networks it connects to.
  • Send or host malware or phishing pages, or collect data from systems that are not yours.
  • Trick, defraud, harass or threaten us or anyone else.
  • Store or send material you have no right to hold, or break any law.

We strictly prohibit network abuse and crypto-mining. If we find an account breaking these rules, we may suspend or close it at once, without notice. It gets no refund under the guarantee or otherwise. Report a violation to abuse@zydra.sh, with what you saw and how you found it.

Demo

  • ssh zydra.sh starts a 15-minute demo. It costs nothing and needs no card or sign-up. The 15 minutes start when your desktop first shows.
  • Each SSH key gets one demo a day.
  • Each network, meaning one IPv4 address or one IPv6 /64, gets 3 demos and 3 new accounts a day. Each wider block, an IPv4 /24 or an IPv6 /48, gets 12.
  • When every demo slot is taken, you wait in a queue that shows how many people are ahead of you.
  • A demo that resets our server's graphics card costs its SSH key and its network their demos for 24 hours.
  • We may refuse a demo to a key or network that abuses Zydra, or pause demos for everyone. Paid workspaces keep working.

Plan and payment

Zydra has one plan, at $40 a month, paid in advance. It gives your desktop 8 GB of memory, 80 GB of storage, 64 GB of it for your files and the rest for swap, and no time limit. The plan continues the desktop your demo saved.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Your card details go to Paddle, not to us. Paddle charges you when you choose the plan, and your billing cycle starts that day.

Prices are in US dollars and do not include tax. Paddle adds the tax where you live at checkout and pays it to the tax authorities.

Paddle's buyer terms also apply. They give consumers in the EU, the EEA and the UK 14 days to withdraw from a purchase. That right ends early once you use the plan after agreeing at checkout to get it right away.

Refunds

The plan comes with a 3-day money-back guarantee on your first payment. Within 3 days of your first payment, choose "Refund my payment" in Settings in the desktop's menu, or on your phone page. The full $40 and its tax go back to the card or PayPal account you paid with. Your plan ends at once and your workspace stays saved.

The guarantee works once per account, email address, card or PayPal account and network a demo came from. It never covers a renewal. After it, the account gets no more demo time.

The Refund Policy has the full rule and every other refund. It is part of these Terms.

Cancellation

You are responsible for canceling your plan. Use the link in Paddle's receipt email, or write to billing@zydra.sh and we cancel it with Paddle. The plan then ends at the end of the month you paid for, and you are not charged again. We don't prorate unused time.

When your plan ends, your account goes back to a demo and we keep your workspace saved. The Privacy Policy says for how long and how to have it deleted. We can't recover a deleted workspace, so copy out what you want to keep.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close any account, and refuse the Service to anyone, for any reason, at any time. Suspension means you can't reach your desktop or anything in it. Termination means you lose the account and everything in it. Abusing or threatening anyone who works on Zydra gets the account closed at once.

Changes to the Service and prices

We may change or stop any part of the Service, with or without notice. We may change prices, also for existing customers. We post a price change on this site at least 30 days before it applies to you, and it never applies retroactively.

Uptime and resources

  • You use the Service at your own risk, "as is" and "as available". We offer no service-level agreement, but we take uptime seriously.
  • Each desktop has limits on CPU, memory, disk, network and GPU use, so one desktop can't slow down the others.
  • Your desktop keeps running after you disconnect, so agents, builds and renders finish. A desktop with nothing running parks: we move its memory to disk, and it comes back in seconds when you return.
  • We may slow down, queue or stop a desktop that uses far more than the average customer when that hurts everyone else.
  • The timeline lets you rewind your desktop. It is not a backup. Keep a copy of anything you can't lose somewhere else.

Security and your data

Every desktop runs in its own virtual machine. SSH encrypts your connection to it, and we serve the website over TLS. We encrypt the archives we send to Backblaze B2 with a key that stays on our server. Your desktop's disks on our server are not encrypted at rest.

We process your data only as our Privacy Policy describes. It lists the vendors we use and the few cases when a person at Zydra looks at your desktop.

To report a security flaw, email security@zydra.sh. We acknowledge your report, investigate it with you and don't disclose it until it is fixed. Then we thank you and credit you, if you want. We will not pursue a report made in good faith.

Content

  • Your content stays yours. You give us a limited license to store, record, snapshot and archive what you, your agents and your scripts put into your desktop, only to provide the Service to you.
  • Content must comply with U.S. copyright law. Send claims to abuse@zydra.sh. We don't pre-screen content, but we may remove it.
  • We or our licensors own the Service. Don't copy, sell or resell any part of it, or its HTML, CSS, JavaScript or design, without our written permission. These policies are the exception, see the note at the end.
  • Ask hello@zydra.sh before you use the Zydra logo. We may withdraw a permission if you break these Terms.

Features and bugs

We can't promise the Service meets your needs or is free of bugs. Report bugs to hello@zydra.sh. We fix security and privacy bugs first, and we don't promise to fix every bug.

Liability

You agree that we are not liable to you or to any third party for damages of any kind, direct or indirect, including lost profits, data or goodwill, that result from using the Service or being unable to use it, from unauthorized access to your data or account, from the actions of any third party on the Service, or from anything else related to these Terms or the Service.

Where the law does not allow a limit this broad, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits. Nothing here removes a consumer right that your country gives you and does not let you waive.

Changes to these Terms

When we make a significant change, we raise the version number at the top of this page. We don't keep your email address, so this page is the notice. If we don't enforce a right in these Terms, we have not given it up. Questions? Write to hello@zydra.sh.
